So Youre Interested In Geomancy Dr. Alexander Cummins
Hello there. I get asked pretty often by folks interested in geomancy where I recommend they start or go next. So this is a post compiling some resources and recommendations for the geomantically-inclined; offering a bit of a current rundown of my classes and courses, as well as freely available podcasts, interviews, recordings, and whatnot.
Free Classes and Lovely Podcast Chats
Firstly, I have quite a bit of material on the YouTubes you can get at for free. In terms of introductions to geomancy, there's this 90minute introductory lecture which was recorded for the Witch House in Salem. It is always great to teach about early modern magic in an early modern building! You can also check out presentations I’ve given on geomantic divination and sorcery for the Magic & Ecology conference (here) and a rundown of my geomantic work with the Angelical language called Enochian (here).
I’ve also had some cracking chats with various podcast hosts about all things geomancy.
Recommended Reading
If you’re looking for some reading lists to sink your teeth into, I have a blogpost recommending modern geomantic manuals (here), and another on early modern handbooks of the art, complete with free downloads of those scans (here).
I can also heartily recommend you check out my newest book, Nazarth: Pillars of Gladness, which presents nineteen Enochian calls for working the sixteen figures of geomancy for divination, spellcraft, and spiritwork. You can watch a review of Nazarth by Foolish Fish (here) and read a review from Paralibrum (here).
Class & Course Recordings: Just Starting Out
If you’re looking for some class recordings to get you into what geomancy is about, I have a couple of options for you. You can purchase my introductory class, Rediscovering Geomancy, to get you started with a lecture bundled with scans of early modern sources and supporting materials.
But for anyone wanting to actually practice geomancy I recommend you check out my Geomancy Foundation course. Clocking in at over ten hours of training, this course takes students through the Sixteen Figures; the Twelve Houses; how to frame queries and analyse a shield chart; and much more. It is very much my best course for starting out with geomantic divination and sorcery.
I would also recommend folks who might know their geomantic figures but would like to deepen their understanding of how the figures speak in the places of the shield chart – and, in general, sharpen their interpretive geomantic skills – to look at my Houses of the Earth course which presents three sessions on how to query, analyse, and even remediate situations according to traditional geomancers’ use of those Twelve Houses.
Class & Course Recordings: I’ve Got the Basics Down, Where Next?
Once you’re familiar with the fundamentals, we can go a number of places!
I have three class-bundles on working with various sorts of materia magica in your geomantic divination and magic. Class-bundles are self-contained modules consisting of a lecture recording (usually 90-120 mins), the illustrated slide deck, primary source scans, extended bibliographies and recommended reading lists. The three geomantic class-bundles in question are:
